We are so proud of Yadira, one of our housing residents, who graduated in December 2021 from Cal State University of Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health!
But attending college and graduating was not an easy journey for Yadira. After losing her foster dad in 2018, she says her physical and mental health was at its worst. She struggled with heavy depression and anxiety. The loss of her foster dad, whom she was very close to, took a huge toll on her health and wellness, forcing her to take a leave of absence from school.
Upon entering the UFC Pathways Program in 2020, she received support, guidance, and care. Soon, she regained the confidence to return to college. When Yadira went back to school during the pandemic, she had many doubts and fears about not being able to pass her classes, but ultimately she worked hard and pressed forward, achieving her goal to graduate college.
