Since 1979, we’ve been delivering programs that equip foster youth with the tools to create a brighter future. When you donate cryptocurrencies, you’re giving youth a sense of agency and empowerment so that they can successfully transition out of foster care and into adulthood.

There’s a reason high net worth individuals tend to donate property instead of cash—taxes. Donating cryptocurrency directly to a 501c3 nonprofit is more tax efficient and can save you money.

The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax-efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation. That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. The difference? Sometimes more than 30%.

Your Crypto donation will help provide up to three years of housing, career counseling, life skills classes, and much more to increase our foster youth’s self-sufficiency and help them secure steady employment and obtain stable housing on their own.

Academic Support

Your Crypto donation will help us provide individualized academic counseling, mentorship, college tours, and much more to improve our students’ performance in school and support them in graduating from high school and college.

Support for Basic Needs

By donating Crypto, you are giving our youth holistic mental health resources such as individual and group onsite therapy sessions, social-emotional wellness support, and counselor advocacy.

What is United Friends donation refund policy?

All cryptocurrency donations made are nonrefundable.

We work hard to ensure that every token that is donated is put to work as soon as possible. When we receive your donation, it is understood that this is made to support our mission and we are grateful for your support. As these donations are often immediately converted into fiat, we do not offer refunds on any donations that are made in cryptocurrency.

We are not able to give refunds if you changed your mind, sent the wrong cryptocurrency or made a mistake.

United Friends does not, has not, and will never offer any form of cryptocurrency airdrop, goods, or services in return for a donation.

Can I donate anonymously and still get a tax receipt?

With us, you can. We have an option for donors to submit only an email in order to receive an automatic tax receipt.

What happens if I want to donate using an unsupported currency?

Unfortunately, you cannot donate using an unsupported currency with The Giving Block widget. If you would like to donate a large amount using an unsupported currency please reach out to info@unitedfriends.org.

Why am I able to send an unsupported cryptocurrency?

ERC-20 protocols do not allow for us to prevent or stop unsupported currency deposits and your wallet or exchange isn't able to determine if the currency is supported. You should always only send the cryptocurrency that matches the crypto on The Giving Block widget - only send ETH to the ETH address, only send BAT to the BAT address etc.
