Senior Development Coordinator

Full-time, Non-Exempt: $58,260-$73,620

Through its housing and education programs, the organization has helped thousands of young people imagine and actualize their own dreams and futures. United Friends’ programs focus on commitment, trauma-informed care, and empowerment by prioritizing a whole-person-development approach. Through a Social Justice Positive Youth Development (SJPYD) model, we center building relationships with youth over an extended period to achieve greater outcomes. Around those relationships, United Friends wraps an array of supportive services to help youth successfully transition to adulthood. As a result of services, United Friends alumni have greater housing and economic stability, higher educational attainment and a stronger sense of community and emotional wellbeing.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Sr. Development Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support for the development team, with a focus on individual giving activities. Responsibilities include coordinating donor outreach efforts, tracking donor engagement, reviewing fundraising data, and support with event logistics. The Sr. Development Coordinator will assist with direct appeals, donor stewardship activities, and reporting. As part of a small development team, this position will support other development activities, including signature events like the annual gala, as needed.

  • Duties and responsibilities:

    Donor Engagement and Administrative Support

    • Support Director of Development and CEO in tracking donor outreach efforts, preparing materials for individual donor meetings, researching donor engagement history and logging donor interactions in Salesforce.
    • Coordinate logistics for donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including personalized thanking efforts, event follow-up and donor recognition programs.
    • Prepare donor research profiles and reports from donor prospecting efforts.
    • Support with site-visit logistics, and other donor engagement and volunteer opportunities.
    • Assist in coordinating direct mail appeals and email fundraising campaigns, including pulling target lists, reviewing content and coordinating with printers and other vendors.

    Event and Campaign Coordination

    • Provide administrative support for donor cultivation and stewardship events, including organizing guest lists, preparing materials and handling event follow-up.
    • Work with development consultants to coordinate fundraising appeals, emails and catalogs.
    • Track, record and report progress of all campaigns and appeals.
    • Maintain department calendars for individual giving campaigns, donor communications and special events
    • Coordinate and maintain communication with monthly donors

     

    Other Fundraising Duties

    • Assist in donor follow-up strategies after fundraising events, particularly for guests of board members, honorees and corporate partners
    • Support Sr. Coordinator, Events and Communications with vendor management, communications and other event-related tasks as needed.
    • Pull donor reports, such as team raise to-date summaries, for development team and board meetings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Passionate about United Friends’ mission and commitment to young people in foster care
    • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related experience in a non-profit fundraising/development department
    • Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly for donor outreach and reports
    • Track record of handling confidential donor/constituent information with sensitivity and integrity
    • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, often with shifting priorities
    • Ability to establish and cultivate respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work as part of a team
    • Conveys thoughts and ideas clearly, listens well, communicates in a solution-oriented manner
    • Takes initiative and works well independently and collaboratively
    • Demonstrates competency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 1-2 years experience and proficiency working in donor databases such as Salesforce
    • Experience with prospect management systems and working within constituent databases
    • Familiarity with direct mail appeals, donor communications and fundraising campaigns
    • Basic competency in design programs InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop
    • Demonstrated success in maintaining relationships through technology (e.g., phone, email, social media)
United Friends currently implements a hybrid work environment – schedule is determined at the discretion of management and the needs of the program and/or agency. This position will work full-time hours, Monday- Friday, and report to the downtown office, as needed. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
