Before entering United Friends’ housing program in May of 2021, Brittianna was homeless. Going from couch to couch, Brittianna worked a part-time job that did not provide enough to live independently.
“At one point in time, I worked two jobs. One from 10 am – 7 pm and the other from 8 pm to 4 am. In between jobs, I slept in my car,” Brittianna said.
Trying to make it on her own with little support was not easy. She experienced a lot of hardships and disappointments, and her lack of financial stability meant she couldn’t go to college and build a better life. But when Brittianna joined United Friends’ housing program things started to change for the better.
United Friends provided Brittianna with a wonderful counselor, who helped her through many ups and downs. “Through the storm, I’ve been able to call for assistance through my counselor who always gets back to me in a timely manner and refers me to helpful services. She has assisted me in crawling out of some dark places and always helps me land on my two feet.”
Brittianna recently secured a job with LA County in the Park & Recreation Department and is excited about the future. As well as working a full-time job, she is taking steps toward her ultimate goal of becoming a chef.
We are so proud of Brittianna and cannot wait to see her continue to flourish in life!
