Brenda is a hardworking and determined individual. She has faced some great challenges but has kept pushing toward her goals. In January 2020 she joined UFC’s education program. At the time, she was starting her last semester at East Los Angeles College and was concerned about her housing situation. “I did not want to experience homelessness while I was trying to complete my last semester at ELAC. I had already gotten accepted to several universities, but I was concerned about living expenses such as rent, utilities, and other financial responsibilities”, says Brenda.
When Brenda’s counselor helped her join UFC’s Pathways housing program, she could finally focus on school. After completing her education at ELAC, she transferred to Cal State Long Beach and graduated in May 2022 with a B.S. in Business Administration and Operations & Supply Chain Management. She is exploring corporate career options with her counselors and preparing for interviews.
Brenda’s future goals look bright, as she reaches toward her next step of achieving a Master’s in Business. We are so proud of Brenda’s tremendous hard work and know that it will continue to pay off! There is nothing that makes us at UFC happier than to see our young people succeed and thrive.
