This month we want to give another shout-out to our NextGen Board member and alumna, Jhamasa Lewis-Adams, for masterfully helping raise critical funds for our current and former foster youth during the Fund-A-Need segment of our 2021 Fall Virtual Gala on November 16, 2021. Her authenticity and genuine love for United Friends came through beautifully as she encouraged donors to continue supporting our foster youth in our education and housing programs.
Today, Jhamasa is the Director of Service Learning at Brentwood School. She is also completing her Masters of Social Work in Social Innovation and Change. During the Fund-A-Need segment, Jhamasa shared that she’s been involved with UFC since the 7th grade. She said, “I remember the college tour with UFC on USC’s campus, where I am now earning my Masters degree. We could not be more proud of Jhamasa and are so happy that she is still very much a part of our community and leadership. Not only does she give back herself, but she encourages others to give back as well. Jhamasa said, “My success as an adult is largely because of the support that UFC gave me. As a former foster youth, I know that support is very little… but you guys (the audience) are the support that is going to get us to the next level.”
