My name is Yesenia Ibarra, and I am grateful to have this opportunity to work with foster youth with UFC as the AV College Counselor. I first attended Los Angeles Pierce Community College where I received my A.A. in STEM. I transferred to California Lutheran University (CLU) where I obtained my B.S. in Biology. I was a pre-medical student and took a gap year when I started to work with Upward Bound. I learned that working with first-generation and/or low-income students felt rewarding. Therefore, I decided to obtain my Master’s Degree in Counseling from CLU to learn how to provide better services to students. Later, I started working with GEAR UP to help services students in my community, the San Fernando Valley. I love spending time with my family and my fur baby Bartholomew. I love re-watching Friends, Disney movies, and I am a huge Wisin Y Yandel fan.
